Hi all! Today’s the day I start rolling out my stock art collection! Last year, I asked fellow bloggers to share their thoughts on the role of illustration in blogging. This year, I took all the responses and started working on an initial collection.

Honestly, I was overwhelmed in the beginning. People other than me were interested! The were so many directions in which the project could go! OMG WHAT IF IT ACTUALLY SUCKS WHY DID I THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA!!!
You see, this natural ain’t a natural at art. I’m the type of person who if I’m not excellent at something, I get stuck obsessing over every flaw. But I was reminded that it happens to all of us, especially creatives, and the only way to move forward is to return to your reason for doing it.
So, I decided to just start with The Woman and see where she took me. “Maya” is the first set in this particular collection that features black women with natural hair. It is not all about natural hair, as neither are we.
Now, I know stock illustration isn’t everyone’s style and that’s okay. But it would be really cool to see this shared widely to find those who, like me, are looking for a little more melanin in the field, because there is not enough! But that’s a whole other blog post.
These are all standalone graphics and almost all of them have transparent backgrounds. They are free to use and you’ll find more information and instructions on the brand new stock art page.
I invite you to have a look, download, and share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions, too. The upcoming sets will feature different women, concepts, and styles, so feedback matters.
Thanks for reading! And thanks again to everyone who has been so encouraging and helped the project get this far. Please, share this post, like, and subscribe. If you follow me on Instagram (pursuitofnatural), I’ll have more frequent updates and work-in-progress stuff there. As always, all my platform links are in the sidebar.
